Easy Mother’s Day Craft – How to Plan Your Perfect Mothers Day in 2021

Ok, let’s be honest with each other. Do you really get to enjoy Mother’s Day? Do you really spend the day how you want? Probably not!

Growing up Mother’s Day often consisted of the Mothers of the family cooking a meal for the fathers who watched football. It always seemed so strange to me and still does.

Mother’s Day should be all about what YOU want. It is a day to celebrate how amazing YOU are as a mother and to feel fully appreciated. If you enjoy cooking large meals and having people over then go for it! However, if you are hoping and wishing for a Mother’s Day where you can just binge-watch Netflix all day then do that!

Here you have FULL permission to make this Mother’s Day all about YOU!

How Can I Make Mother’s Day Special

To make Mother’s Day special you need to ask yourself what you are missing on all of the other days.

  1. Are you just wanting someone to say “Thank you”

  2. Are just wishing someone else would cook dinner

  3. Are you praying someone else could do laundry

What could happen on Mother’s Day that would fulfill what you have been missing? Here are some creative ways to make this Mother’s Day special.

A Gift for You

I want to give you a Mother’s Day gift and that gift is for you to be able to plan your perfect Mother’s Day! I honestly don’t think our spouse or children are trying to be unthoughtful, they may not even realize how badly you would love a break or a day for you because you always have it all together. Therefore, write it out and put it where everyone can see it!

Your gift is your Mother’s Day plan which lists exactly how you would like the day to go. You may want to wake up at 6 am with the kids, you may want to sleep until noon. You may want pizza for dinner or you may want to cook a gourmet meal. It is whatever YOU want.

This Mother’s Day is not about making sure everyone else enjoys the day, it is about making sure YOU enjoy the day and feel appreciated! So, get your Mother’s Day gift now and start planning your perfect Mother’s Day.

What Is the Best Thing to Do for Mothers Day

The best thing to do for Mother’s Day is whatever you want to do! However, a popular activity will always be an easy Mother’s Day craft.

It would be a dream come true if your spouse got the kids together to make you something for Mother’s Day, but unfortunately, that is not the reality. Often times the best crafts we get are the ones the kids made at school that got smashed on the way home.

Instead of hoping every Mother’s Day that you will wake up to a thoughtful craft just do it yourself, momma! If you are a mom who enjoys doing crafts then go all out and have fun. If you are a mom the despises the mess then don’t do it and pick a different activity.

Remember it is all about what would make this day best for YOU!

Easy Mother’s Day Craft

If an easy Mother’s Day craft sounds like something you would enjoy to do this Mother’s Day then this one is perfect! Make it messy or make it clean, make is big or make is small. You can change this up so many ways!

The focus of this craft is for your kids to reflect on how great their mom is and for you to learn what they love the most about you and how you parent. If you want you can also make one about them. Show them what you love and appreciate about them!

Here is how my son and I did this craft.

1. Print out the stem and hearts

Another gift for you this Mother’s Day! Make this craft even easier with these already made templates!

Alternative – You can always paint your own stem on a canvas if your kiddo needs more room for their hands. You can also write your own message.

2. Choose 5 different paint colors for the flowers

Alternative – If using paint just sounds stressful instead of fun then trace their hand instead and have them color in their flower.

3. Place 5 different hand prints, one on each stem

As you can see, my son, Mason, decided his blue handprint needed to be up higher instead of on the stem. He was the artist so he got to choose.

4. While the paint drys, have your child think about 5 things they love about their mom. Have them write it on the hearts or write it for them.

There are different size hearts to chose which fits best for your child’s hand.

5. Cut out the 5 hearts that you have written on

You want to eliminate the black line.

6. Glue one heart to each palm

Feel free to add anything that makes it special for you. You can write the date, your child’s name, Mother’s Day, etc.

Happy Mother’s Day

I hope this post and your gifts have empowered you to make this Mother’s Day truly about YOU! Remember it is ok to focus on you, even when it is not Mother’s Day!
