5 Simple Veterans Day Crafts for Kids to Help Them Understand

Between Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the increased excitement for Christmas, Veterans Day, unfortunately, gets a little lost.

This year, find some time to do a simple Veterans Day craft to start a conversation with your little ones about the meaning of the holiday.

Keep it as simple as you’d like or that you think is appropriate. Starting the conversation is a great beginning.

To help you get started I have made a list of 5 simple Veterans Day crafts for kids.

Also, take some time to watch this quick video with your kiddos for an easy explanation of the holiday.

Veterans Day Crafts for Kids

Make Cards

An easy way to show your appreciation is by making and sending some cards. We have a few veterans in our family that we can give these out to. This makes the holiday a little more personable and easier for little ones to understand. You can download these FREE cards here!

American Flag

You can make a flag a thousand different ways. Our favorite is by using old magazines. P.S. it is a great way to declutter ;). See how to make a magazine flag here.

Military Branches Puzzles

I was so excited to find this cute activity! Help your little ones learn about the different military branches while building puzzles and coloring. Get the puzzlers here.

Poppy Craft

Poppies have been a sign of remembrance for years. To educate yourself and your child, watch this short video about why we use poppies as a sign of remembrance.

There are many easy poppy crafts. My personal favorite is this one made out of cupcake liners, buttons, a paper plate, paper, and some glue. See how to make it here.

Eagle

This eagle is super easy to make and extra special because you both get to be a part of it. Use your hand and theirs to make the perfect wing and keep for a great keepsake. See how to make this eagle here.

Happy Veterans Day

I hope you enjoyed this post and choose one of these crafts to do with your kiddos or watch a video.

Don’t forget to grab the free Veterans Day cards to hand out or send to those special to you.
